United States President Donald Trump has claimed that the US military played a major role in ending the killing of Christians in Nigeria.
Speaking at an event in Washington on Friday, Trump said his administration carried out a military operation that significantly weakened those responsible for attacks on Christian communities in Nigeria.
“We recently struck Nigeria and largely ended the slaughter of great Christian populations,” Trump said.
He alleged that thousands of Christians, including women, children and elderly people, had been killed before the intervention. According to him, the operation targeted key figures behind the violence and served as a warning against further attacks.
Trump also claimed that US forces eliminated the group’s top leaders, including its first, second and third-ranking commanders.
The US President did not provide details about the timing or nature of the alleged military operation, and no further official information was immediately available to support the claims.
His remarks come as Nigeria continues to battle insecurity caused by insurgents and other armed groups in several parts of the country.
