United States President Donald Trump says the US and Israel have agreed to suspend further military attacks on Iran, provided a peace agreement to end the months-long conflict is reached quickly.

Trump announced the decision on Saturday, saying Washington remained prepared for military action but had chosen to give diplomacy another opportunity after appeals from Iran and several countries in the Middle East.

According to the US president, any agreement must include the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to international shipping and measures to eliminate what he described as Iran’s nuclear threat. He added that Israel supports the proposed arrangement.

Iran, however, denied asking the United States to halt any planned strikes, dismissing Trump’s claim as false. Iranian officials said the country’s armed forces remain on high alert and ready to respond to any escalation.

Diplomatic efforts have intensified in recent days, with Saudi Arabia urging dialogue and a ceasefire to reduce tensions. Iran has also held talks with Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkey as mediators continue efforts to secure a lasting truce.

The conflict, which has lasted for more than five months, has disrupted global energy markets and affected shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil transit routes. Previous ceasefire efforts collapsed after disagreements over key conditions, allowing hostilities to resume.

Recent maritime incidents, including attacks involving commercial vessels in the region, have further heightened concerns over regional security, while US embassies across the Middle East have advised American citizens to remain vigilant as diplomatic negotiations continue.
