Two persons have lost their lives and 77 others injured after an explosion in Ibadan, Oyo State, State Governor, Seyi Makinde has confirmed
The Governor who visited the scene of the explosion says preliminary investigations by security agencies revealed that the blast was caused by illegal miners storing explosive devices in one of the buildings in Bodija, Ibadan.
He noted that wounded persons have been taken to both private and public hospital within the city to receive medical care. Makinde says their medical bills will be covered by the government.
Mr Governor assured Oyo residents especially those affected that investigations will continue until those found culpable are brought to book. He also promised to provide temporary accommodation for those whose houses were destroyed in the explosion.
