Nigerian gospel music icon and pastor, Nathaniel Bassey, has received an invitation to minister at the upcoming U.S. Presidential Inaugural Prayer Breakfast, scheduled for January 20, 2025, in Washington, D.C.

The event, which marks a faith-centered gathering before the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump, will take place at the Waldorf Astoria Presidential Ballroom.

Bassey, who is widely known for his impactful worship music and the online Hallelujah Challenge, announced his participation via Instagram.

Sharing an event poster, he urged followers to join him, stating, “Let’s raise a sound in America. See you on January 20, 2025.”

The Presidential Inaugural Prayer Breakfast is a non-political tradition, held every four years prior to a new president’s swearing-in. It serves as a time for prayer and worship to offer spiritual support for the U.S. government.

This year’s event will feature prominent speakers, including Dr. Alveda King and Pastor Mario Bramnick, ahead of the swearing-in of Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance.

Bassey is recognized globally for hit songs such as “Imela,” “Onise Iyanu,” and “Olowogbogboro.”

His fusion of jazz, hymns, and medleys has made him a key figure in contemporary gospel music. In 2024, his efforts were acknowledged when the Mayor of Albany, New York, declared October 6 as “Pastor Nathaniel Bassey Day.”

The event promises to be an inspiring occasion, reflecting both spiritual support for the incoming administration and Bassey’s growing influence in the global gospel music scene.
