The United States has announced a reward of up to $20 million for information that could help uncover details of Iran’s nuclear programme, including its facilities, equipment and personnel involved in the development of nuclear technology.

The offer, announced on Friday by the US Central Command, also includes possible relocation for individuals who provide useful intelligence.

The initiative is being coordinated through the State Department’s Rewards for Justice programme, which is encouraging people with relevant information to submit tips through its official website.

The announcement comes amid renewed concerns over Iran’s nuclear activities, despite repeated claims by US President Donald Trump that American military strikes had destroyed the country’s nuclear capabilities.

In 2025, the International Atomic Energy Agency reported that Iran was enriching uranium to 60 per cent purity, bringing it closer to the 90 per cent level generally required for weapons-grade nuclear material.

In June 2025, the United States and Israel launched airstrikes against Iranian nuclear facilities in an operation targeting key sites linked to the country’s nuclear programme.

Following the strikes, Trump declared that Iran’s nuclear facilities had been completely destroyed. However, subsequent assessments suggested that the attacks had significantly weakened the programme without eliminating it entirely.

Tensions escalated further on February 28, 2026, when Washington and Tel Aviv launched another major military operation against Iran, citing efforts to prevent Tehran from developing nuclear weapons.

The offensive resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, during its initial phase, triggering retaliatory attacks by Tehran and a wider regional conflict.

The confrontation also disrupted shipping activities around the Strait of Hormuz, a major global oil transportation route, contributing to volatility in international oil markets.

The latest US reward offer signals continued efforts by Washington to obtain intelligence on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure and the individuals associated with its operations.
