The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has warned that Washington could launch attacks on critical facilities in Iran if ongoing diplomatic efforts fail.

Trump disclosed on Sunday that American officials are scheduled to travel to Pakistan on Monday to continue talks aimed at easing tensions and ending the conflict involving Tehran.

In a message posted on social media, the US leader described the proposal presented to Iran as fair and achievable, saying his administration remains open to a peaceful resolution. He, however, cautioned that rejecting the offer could lead to serious repercussions.

According to Trump, Iranian forces violated a two-week ceasefire by carrying out attacks on Saturday around the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global shipping route.

He said the alleged breach underscores the need for Tehran to accept the deal on the table, warning that the US would respond forcefully if diplomacy collapses.

Trump stated that if Iran refuses the terms being proposed, the United States would target key infrastructure across the country, including power plants and bridges, signalling a shift away from what he described as a restrained approach so far.
