President Bola Tinubu has assured the family of Nigeria’s late President Muhammadu Buhari that his administration will continue to uphold Buhari’s legacy of integrity, patriotism, and accountability.

The President made the pledge during a visit to Buhari’s Kaduna residence on Friday, where he was warmly received by the late leader’s widow, Aisha Buhari, her eldest son Yusuf, and other family members.

Speaking to the family, Tinubu said, “We share in your grief and your pain. A loss in flesh is not a loss in spirit. The values your husband left behind—hard work, honesty, and dedication—remain with us, and we are committed to continuing his path.”

Aisha Buhari expressed her gratitude to the President and his administration for the support given to the family during this difficult period. She encouraged Nigerians to uphold her late husband’s virtues, emphasizing honesty, justice, tolerance, and integrity as guiding principles for the nation.

The President was accompanied by top government officials, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, and governors from Kwara, Yobe, Borno, and Sokoto states. Key members of the federal cabinet, such as Finance Minister Wale Edun, Minister of Budget and Planning Atiku Bagudu, Minister of State for Defence Bello Matawalle, and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, were also part of the delegation.

Earlier in the day, President Tinubu attended the wedding of Nasirudeen Abdulaziz Yari, son of Senator Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara West, to Safiyya Shehu Idris at the historic Sultan Bello Mosque in Kaduna. The ceremony, which attracted dignitaries, traditional rulers, and business leaders from across Nigeria, included prayers for the President and the nation led by renowned cleric Sheikh Abdullahi Bala Lau and Chief Imam Dr. Muhammad Suleiman.

Tinubu commended both families for honoring Nigerian traditions and urged the young couple to build a home grounded in faith, love, and mutual respect.

The visit to the Buhari family and participation in the wedding highlight the President’s commitment to national unity, respect for traditions, and continuation of the values championed by his predecessor.
