President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, for a brief layover as he embarks on a working tour of Japan and Brazil.

His aircraft departed Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Friday morning and landed at Al-Maktoum International Airport, Dubai, later in the day.

A statement from his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed that the president’s first engagement will be in Yokohama, Japan, where he will attend the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) scheduled for August 20–22.

The summit, themed “Co-create Innovative Solutions with Africa,” is expected to focus on boosting Africa’s economic transformation, attracting investment, and strengthening peace and stability across the continent.

During his stay in Japan, Tinubu will meet with Japanese leaders and also hold talks with business executives whose companies are invested in Nigeria.

After the conference, he will continue to Brazil for the second phase of his working visit.

Officials who accompanied him to the Abuja airport include the Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun; Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila; and National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
