Political activist and former APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Timi Frank, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to immediately dismiss the country’s service chiefs, accusing them of failing to protect Nigerians from the growing wave of insecurity.

In a statement issued in Abuja, Frank condemned the killing of soldiers in Borno State by suspected Boko Haram insurgents, describing it as further proof that Nigeria’s security system has collapsed. He said despite huge budgetary allocations, security personnel remain poorly equipped and underpaid.

Frank alleged that corruption and mismanagement have crippled the military’s ability to tackle terrorism and banditry. “Our soldiers and policemen are dying every day because they lack the right tools and support,” he said.

He praised former U.S. President Donald Trump and Senator Ted Cruz for publicly condemning the killings in Nigeria, saying their advocacy has helped draw global attention to the country’s worsening human rights record.

Frank, who also serves as the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and the Middle East, urged the United States and other international partners to pressure President Tinubu to release detained IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

He criticised the Nigerian government for negotiating with terrorists while keeping political activists in detention, and commended activist Omoyele Sowore for consistently demanding Kanu’s freedom.

Frank also emphasised the importance of maintaining strong diplomatic relations between Nigeria and the United States, describing the U.S. as a key ally in promoting peace and democracy.

He, however, slammed the Nigerian Senate for attacking Senator Cruz over his remarks on the killings, calling the lawmakers “a disappointment” for defending the government instead of protecting citizens.

Frank urged President Tinubu to act decisively, saying only a complete overhaul of the security structure can restore public confidence and end the ongoing bloodshed.
