The Supreme Court has upheld the election of Dapo Abiodun as Ogun State Governor dismissing the appeal filed by Ladi Adebutu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Adebutu in his appeal contended that the election of Governor Abiodun was not in accordance with the electoral laws and he did not score the lawful majority votes.

He therefore asked the court to void his victory.

But on Friday, the apex court in a Friday ruling dismissed the appeal for lack of merit and affirmed Governor Abiodun’s win in the election.

Recall that in March 2023, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Abiodun winner with 276,298 votes, while Ladi Adebutu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) scored 262,383 and Biyi Otegbeye of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) came a distant third with 94,754 votes.
