Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi is mourning the loss of his father, Sunday Ndidi, who sadly passed away on Tuesday following a road accident.
According to reports, the tragic incident occurred in Umunede, Delta State, where the retired military officer was involved in a fatal crash. He was immediately rushed to a hospital in Agbor, also in Delta State, but was later confirmed dead by medical personnel.
The heartbreaking news was made public on Tuesday by Besiktas, the Turkish club where Wilfred Ndidi currently plays. The club expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing Sunday Ndidi’s death as a devastating blow to their key midfielder and his family.
In an official statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), Besiktas wrote:
We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of our footballer Wilfred Ndidi’s esteemed father, Sunday Ndidi, in a fatal traffic accident.
