Professor Chukwuma Soludo, the incumbent governor of Anambra State, has been officially nominated as the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) flagbearer for the upcoming November 8, 2025, governorship election.
Soludo clinched the nomination unopposed in a primary held in Awka on Saturday, receiving overwhelming support from party delegates.
The governor garnered an impressive 3,168 votes out of 3,172 valid votes cast, with no opposition. In total, 3,260 delegates were accredited for the election, and only four votes were deemed invalid.
In his acceptance speech, Soludo expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him, stating, “I am humbled by this historic display of solidarity to be able to fly the flag of our party again.
Anambra keeps rising with the progressive leadership that we have had through APGA, and I will continue to appreciate the leadership of the party.”
Soludo also pledged to continue his efforts towards the growth and development of Anambra, mentioning that his administration had been able to achieve remarkable feats without borrowing funds.
“We are doing this without borrowing one Naira, and I know we will continue to do even more,” he remarked.
The governor further announced his running mate for the election, re-nominating Dr. Onyeka Ibezim as his deputy, stating, “If it is not broken, why mend it?” He expressed confidence that the party would secure a landslide victory in the upcoming election, aiming to win all 21 local governments and 326 wards in Anambra State.
