Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has inaugurated a 489-member campaign council to lead efforts for the November 8 governorship election. The council’s main role is to promote the governor’s agenda and ensure his message of development reaches every part of the state.

In a post on X, Soludo thanked the council members for taking up their responsibilities, describing them as vital to the party’s progress. “This team has been carefully chosen to advance our vision for Anambra. It is my honor to officially inaugurate you all. Together, we will work toward a brighter future for our state,” he said.

The governor also highlighted the unity within the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), despite previous challenges. “These 489 members symbolize a movement representing Anambra’s 8.5 million people. Each of you is an ambassador of our mission,” he added.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) confirmed that 16 political parties will compete in the election. Only two parties fielded women as governorship candidates, while six nominated women as deputy governorship candidates.

INEC also revealed that the July Continuous Voter Registration exercise added 168,187 new voters, the highest in a two-week period since the program began in 2017.
