Russia and Madagascar have agreed to expand cooperation following a meeting held in Moscow between their foreign ministers on Friday.
Sergey Lavrov hosted Madagascar’s foreign minister, Alice N’Diaye for discussions aimed at strengthening relations between both countries.
The talks focused on boosting collaboration in key sectors such as energy, agriculture, infrastructure, healthcare, mining, and education. Madagascar said it sees new opportunities to grow its partnership with Russia in these areas.
During a joint briefing after the meeting, Lavrov also commented on wider international issues, including relations between Russia and the United States. He suggested there could be changes in diplomatic approaches and referenced past understandings reached through earlier negotiations.
He also spoke about stalled United States–Iran talks, noting possible challenges affecting the process, while stating that Russia is willing to assist in efforts related to managing enriched uranium stockpiles if needed.
Both sides described the meeting as positive, with a shared interest in strengthening diplomatic and economic ties moving forward.
