Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has won 19 of the 30 local government areas in Saturday’s governorship election, while the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, secured victory in 11 LGAs.
The results were announced during the collation of results across the state on Sunday.
Adeleke recorded notable victories in Ede North, Ede South, Osogbo, Ife Central, Ife East, Iwo, Oriade, Odo Otin and Egbedore, among others.
Oyebamiji, on the other hand, won in Ilesa East, Boripe, Irepodun, Obokun, Atakumosa West, Irewole, Atakumosa East, Isokan, Olaoluwa, Ife South and Olorunda.
Adeleke secured his biggest margin in Ede South, where he polled 26,188 votes against Oyebamiji’s 6,219. He also won Ede North with 35,427 votes, compared with the APC candidate’s 10,283.
Oyebamiji recorded a significant victory in Irewole, polling 29,972 votes against Adeleke’s 10,934.
The results from all 30 LGAs are now being collated, with the Independent National Electoral Commission expected to make the official declaration after the completion of the process.
