The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has opened up about his early life, admitting that he is not proud of his past but using it to demonstrate that God can transform anyone. Speaking on the fifth day of the Holy Ghost Congress 2025 at Redemption City, along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, Ogun State, Adeboye, 83, told thousands of worshippers that no life is too broken for God’s intervention. The event’s theme is “God of all Flesh.”
Reflecting on his youth, Adeboye said many people doubted he would ever become a pastor. “Do you think there is anybody in your family who is too far gone that God cannot save his soul? Even if I was bad, God saved me,” he said. He noted that even after he changed, some continued to question whether he could truly serve as a spiritual leader.
The cleric recounted personal experiences that highlight his journey of transformation. He told of a former girlfriend who, years after leaving school, was stunned to meet him as a pastor. “She said, ‘You, a pastor? You mean you will pray and God will answer?’ I told her, ‘Me too, I’m surprised,’” Adeboye recalled.
He also shared a story from his childhood, when he orchestrated the reconciliation between his uncle and his wife after she mistreated him. “As small as I was, I told her I would get you out of this house, and I did. We later reconciled, and all her children are now pastors in the church,” he said.
Adeboye emphasized that his life is a testament to God’s power to redeem. “There is nobody God cannot save. No life is too broken for Him. You don’t know who is in front of you,” he told the congregation.
