Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, will swear in the newly elected local government council chairmen on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at 12:00 noon at the Government House in Osogbo. The announcement was confirmed by his Special Assistant on Digital Media, Olalekan Badmus, on social media.
Badmus wrote, “The newly elected local government council chairmen will be sworn in by His Excellency, Governor Ademola Adeleke, tomorrow, 23/02/2025, at 12:00 noon prompt at the Government House, Osogbo.”
The announcement follows the recent local government elections held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, where the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) claimed sweeping victories. According to the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC), PDP candidates secured all councillorship positions in the 332 wards and chairmanship elections across the 30 local government areas. OSSIEC Chairman, Hashim Abioye, confirmed the results during a Facebook Live broadcast on Saturday evening.
However, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has criticized the election, with some party members alleging it was illegal. The APC commended the people for boycotting the election, which they deemed “illegitimate.”
