Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen scored both goals for Galatasaray in their 2-1 victory over Rizespor at the Çaykur Didi Stadyumu on Monday.

The reigning Turkish champions and league leaders entered the match in strong form, having won four of their last five games and drawing one.

With rivals Fenerbahçe securing victory a day earlier, Galatasaray aimed to extend their seven-point lead at the top of the table.

After a goalless first half, Victor Osimhen put Galatasaray ahead just two minutes into the second half after being set up by Prezemslaw Frankowski. However, Rizespor quickly responded, equalising seven minutes later through Ali Sowe.

Showing great resilience, Osimhen scored the winning goal in the 86th minute, rising to head home a precise cross from Mario Lemina, securing a hard-fought 2-1 victory for his side on the road.

Victor Osimhen delivered a standout performance in Galatasaray’s 2-1 win over Rizespor, showcasing his clinical finishing and all-around contribution.

The Nigerian forward had three shots on target, with two resulting in goals, while also adding one shot off target and another blocked.

Despite limited touches, with 22 in total, the 26-year-old’s efficiency was evident, completing 33% of his passes (three out of nine) and providing one key pass.

His physical presence was felt in the air and on the ground, winning two of three ground duels and four out of eight aerial duels.

Defensively, Osimhen was also active, making two clearances and blocking a shot to help his team secure all three points.

Monday’s brace marked Osimhen’s 18th and 19th goals for Galatasaray in 23 appearances across all competitions. In addition to his impressive goal tally, he has also provided five assists.
