The Ondo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Akure is set to deliver its judgment on the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Agboola Ajayi, against the result of the November 16, 2024, governorship election.

The three-member tribunal is chaired by Justice Benson Ogubu.

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress was declared the winner of the election, having secured victory in all 18 local government areas of the state.

Aiyedatiwa polled a total of 366,781 votes to defeat other contenders in the race.

However, the PDP candidate, Agboola Ajayi and the party approached the tribunal, alleging widespread irregularities and calling for the cancellation of the election result.

Other political parties, including the Social Democratic Party and the African Democratic Congress, Allied Peoples’ Movement, African Alliance, also filed petitions before the tribunal, contesting the legitimacy of the poll.
