The Lagos State Police Command has firmly denied reports circulating on social media about an alleged explosion in the state, assuring residents there was no such incident.

The state Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, in a statement released on Saturday through the command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, clarified that there was no explosion recorded anywhere in Lagos on Friday, April 19, 2025.

“The command in Lagos State confirms that no explosion incident was recorded in any part of the state,” Jimoh said.

He explained that a viral video purported to show a recent explosion was actually from an earlier incident on April 11 at a CCTV shop in Computer Village, Ikeja, which remains under investigation.

To quell public fears, the Commissioner emphasized that proactive security measures have been taken to maintain peace and safety across Lagos.

“Residents are urged to go about their lawful activities without fear or panic,” Jimoh stated. “The Lagos State Police Command remains committed to protecting lives and property.”

Jimoh also cautioned against the spread of false information on social media, urging bloggers and online users to verify facts before posting content that could spark unnecessary panic.

“We appeal to the public to disregard the false alarm and to avoid disseminating unverified claims,” he added.

The police reassured Lagosians of their dedication to preserving peace and ensuring the security of all communities in the state.
