Nigeria will host Colombia’s Vice President, Francia Márquez, on a four-day state visit aimed at deepening bilateral relations and advancing South-South cooperation.
Vice President Kashim Shettima confirmed that Márquez will be in the country from August 30 to September 2, 2025. He described the visit as a “historic opportunity” to broaden collaboration between both nations in critical areas such as trade, agriculture, energy, education, culture, and women’s empowerment.
“This visit opens a new chapter in Nigeria–Colombia relations, building bridges of cooperation that promise shared prosperity,” Shettima said.
During her stay, the Colombian Vice President is expected to meet with top government officials, private sector leaders, and civil society representatives. The agenda will focus on strengthening economic ties, promoting cultural exchange, and exploring new opportunities for sustainable development.
The visit marks a significant step in Nigeria’s drive to foster stronger partnerships with countries in the Global South, positioning both nations for mutual growth and closer diplomatic engagement.
