Supporters of Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the suspended Kogi Central Senator, have defied a government-imposed ban on public gatherings as they flooded the streets in anticipation of her homecoming rally.
Despite a warning from Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo and a directive from the Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaye, to cancel the event, her loyalists showed strong solidarity by marching in the streets.
The police had reinforced the ban, urging Akpoti-Uduaghan to cancel the rally planned for the Sallah celebration in the Kogi Central Senatorial District.
However, images circulated on April 1 revealed supporters holding placards reading, “Welcome home, worthy daughter of Ebiraland” and “The people of Okene are solidly behind you.”
Another placard added, “The people of Adavi are solidly behind you,” signaling widespread local support.
