Suspended Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduagha, has threatened to take legal action against the Clerk of the National Assembly, Kamorudeen Ogunlana, if he blocks her return to plenary on Monday.
Her warning was issued in a letter dated September 10 and signed by her lawyer, Chief Michael Numa, SAN. The letter stated that preventing her resumption would amount to disobeying a court order.
According to the counsel, ignoring the directive of the court breaches the Constitution and the Code of Conduct for Public Officers. He further cautioned that the Clerk would be held liable for any breakdown of order caused by such defiance.
The letter added that if compliance is not ensured by September 15, contempt charges and disciplinary steps would be pursued against Ogunlana.
Natasha has repeatedly maintained that her suspension was unlawful and insists that the Senate leadership must respect judicial rulings by allowing her back to her legislative duties.
