The local government elections in Lagos State got off to an inconsistent start on Saturday, with some areas recording smooth early voting while others faced significant delays.
In Ajeromi-Ifelodun’s Ward B, electoral materials arrived as early as 8:00 a.m., and voting began in a calm and orderly manner. At Polling Unit 043 in the same ward, although materials were delivered by 8:30 a.m., voting was yet to commence by 9:12 a.m. due to ongoing setup by officials.
The situation was quite different in Yaba’s Ward C, where several polling stations experienced setbacks. At Polling Unit 046, no LASIEC officials or voting materials had arrived by 8:58 a.m. A similar issue occurred at Polling Unit 027, where party representatives were present, but election officials and materials were nowhere in sight.
Meanwhile, at Polling Unit 023 in the same area, LASIEC officials arrived late and were still arranging the polling station at the time of report. Security personnel were seen at various locations to maintain order.
