A routine flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv turned into a serious mid-air emergency after passengers reported screams, blood in the cockpit and a violent confrontation involving the pilots.
Flight FZ1073, a Boeing 737 carrying more than 150 passengers, transmitted emergency signals, including Code 7500, which indicates unlawful interference or a suspected hijacking. Israeli authorities scrambled fighter jets as they tried to determine what was happening aboard the aircraft.
Terrifying footage reportedly recorded by a passenger from the aircraft window captured the tense moments surrounding the flydubai flight emergency, offering a glimpse of the incident as it unfolded mid-air.
According to the sources quoted by reports Passengers said the situation escalated suddenly when screams were heard inside the cabin and the cockpit door was opened. One passenger alleged that a pilot had been stabbed with a pocketknife and said blood was visible.
There were also reports suggesting that one pilot may have tried to take control of the aircraft and deliberately crash it.
Another account said the other pilot resisted, while passengers helped during the struggle. However, the exact sequence of events inside the cockpit remains under investigation.
Flight-tracking data showed the aircraft suddenly losing thousands of feet in altitude before climbing again and later descending further, adding to concerns during the emergency.
The aircraft was diverted from its original route to Tel Aviv and headed towards Tabuk in northwestern Saudi Arabia. It eventually landed safely at Tabuk Airport. flydubai confirmed that FZ1073 had experienced an incident during the flight and said all passengers were safe and accounted for.
Israel’s Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has described the flydubai FZ1073 incident as a “terrorist” attack, claiming that someone wanted to crash the Dubai-to-Tel Aviv flight and kill Israelis on board.
The aircraft diverted to Saudi Arabia while flying over Jordanian airspace and made a safe emergency landing. However, an Israeli Prime Minister’s Office spokesperson had earlier said the incident was not believed to be a hijacking and called it a “different incident.”
