Israel says its air force has struck the Iranian regime’s leadership compound as the US warns the “hardest hits are yet to come” in its war on Iran.

In a statement on Telegram, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said “numerous munitions” were dropped on the Presidential Office and the Supreme National Security Council.

It said that a military training institution and “additional key regime infrastructure” were also hit as the Israel and US continued to attack the Iranian capital.

It comes after Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed at his own compound over the weekend in US-Israeli strikes.

The widening war between Iran and the US and its allies has entered its fourth day – with Israel launching strikes on Beirut and Tehran and the US Embassy in Riyadh coming under attack.

The death toll from the conflict is rising, with Iran’s Red Crescent Society saying some 787 people have been killed in Iran,

US-based Human Rights Activists in Iran (HRANA) reported that 742 civilians have died, including 176 children.

The US and Israel have continued to hit Iran since its first strikes at the weekend, while Tehran and its allies have hit back against Israel and neighbouring Gulf states.

The Israel Defence Forces said on X on Tuesday that they were “conducting simultaneous targeted strikes against military targets in Tehran and Beirut”.

Iran continued its retaliatory strikes on Gulf states. Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defense confirmed that the US embassy in Riyadh was attacked by two drones, according to initial estimates.
