The Independent National Electoral Commission has published the final list of 18 presidential candidates and their running mates for the 2027 general election.
The list, released in Abuja on Saturday and signed by the commission’s Secretary, Rose Oriaran-Anthony, confirms the candidates who will contest the presidential election under 18 political parties.
President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress will seek another term, while former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar will contest under the African Democratic Congress. Peter Obi is the presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress.
Other prominent candidates on the list include Labour Party’s Sunday Chibuzo Okereke, Peoples Democratic Party’s Sandy Ojang Onor, African Action Congress candidate Omoyele Sowore, Allied Peoples Movement candidate Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde and Social Democratic Party candidate Adewole Ebenezer Adebayo.
Donald Duke will represent the People’s Redemption Party, while Rufai Adekunle Omo-Aje will contest for the Action Alliance.
The remaining presidential candidates are Aliyu Abbas-Bin of the Action Democratic Party, Kabiru Yusuf of the Allied Peoples Party, Sunday Adenuga of the Boot Party, Moses Olusoji Adebisi of the Democratic Leadership Alliance, Ada Elizabeth Fredrick Okwori of the National Democratic Party, Nkem Esther Okereke of the National Rescue Movement, Peter Ada Agada of the Young Progressive Party and Daniel Daberechukwu Nwanyanwu of the Zenith Labour Party.
The commission also published the names of the vice-presidential candidates accompanying the presidential contenders.
Among the running mates are Kashim Shettima for Tinubu, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for Atiku and Musa Mohammed Rabiu Kwankwaso for Obi.
The list contains 14 male and four female vice-presidential candidates. The female running mates include Peace Egobia Ofordile of the Allied Peoples Party, Nafisat Usaku Abubakar of the Democratic Leadership Alliance, Hajja Bintu Konto of the Labour Party and Patience Ndidi Key of the Young Progressive Party.
INEC also released the final lists for candidates contesting the Senate and House of Representatives elections.
The publication marks another step towards the 2027 general elections, with the presidential contest now formally featuring candidates from 18 political parties.
