Controversial singer Portable has proclaimed himself a global star, stating that renowned rapper and music executive Olamide can no longer sign him.
Speaking on the Echo Room podcast, Portable praised British rapper Skepta for his support, saying Skepta went beyond just a musical collaboration to uplift him.
In comparison, Portable downplayed Olamide’s contribution to his breakout track Zazu, claiming the rapper only delivered a verse without offering further guidance or management.
With confidence, Portable asserted that his rise to global fame has placed him beyond Olamide’s reach.
He said: “I can’t drag Skepta because he hold my hand, Olamide didn’t hold my hand, he gave me a verse on ‘Zazu’ and left me without any management. He can’t sign me now because I’m now big”.
Olamide played a significant role in Portable’s rise to fame when he featured on the remix of Portable’s hit song “Zazuu” in 2021.
Olamide’s verse on the song helped bring it to a wider audience and gave Portable the exposure he needed to gain mainstream recognition.
The collaboration was instrumental in catapulting Portable to fame, and he has since become a household name in the Nigerian music industry.
