Public interest lawyer, Ayodele Ademiluyi, has filed a N500 billion lawsuit at the Federal High Court in Lagos against the Federal Government, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), and several other parties over what he described as a disregard for the rule of law in the handling of two controversial aviation incidents.
The case, marked FHC/L/CS/1632/25, names as defendants: President Bola Tinubu, the Attorney-General of the Federation, Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo, NCAA, FAAN, Ibom Air, ValueJet, the Nigerian Police Force, Nigerian Correctional Service, the Governor of Akwa Ibom, his Attorney-General, the Airline Operators of Nigeria, and Fuji icon King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal.
Speaking at a press conference, Ademiluyi — who also leads the Movement for Justice — said the lawsuit was necessary to hold authorities accountable and safeguard public interest. He argued that the aviation sector was sliding into disorder due to selective enforcement of rules.
According to him, while passenger Comfort Emmanson was swiftly punished for an infraction, King Wasiu allegedly went unpunished and was even rewarded with a brand ambassadorship role in the sector.
“The imbalance is glaring. One party was banned and humiliated, while the other walked free and was celebrated. That undermines the rule of law,” he said.
Ademiluyi also criticised Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo, accusing him of defending one of the airlines instead of protecting the integrity of the system. He further faulted the Airline Operators of Nigeria for imposing a life ban on Emmanson without due process, a sanction later withdrawn.
He urged the judiciary to use the case as a precedent to show that no individual, no matter how influential, is above the law.
