The mum of the 20-year-old co-pilot who was tragically killed in a horror aircraft crash in Florida has spoken out following her daughter’s death. Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras was identified earlier today (November 2) as the co-pilot on the Learjet 60, which crashed in Palm Beach County, Florida, on Sunday (November 1).

Filgueiras’s mother Camila Corteleti confirmed her daughter was on board and said she would have turned 21 in January. The mother said that Filgueiras was “living her dream” of being a pilot.

However, Camila revealed she had fears around her daughter’s chosen career as a pilot and said ” knew that her dream was going to be the thing that would take her away from me”.

Speaking to the New York Post, her mum said: “I wanted her to live her dream, but I knew that her dream was going to be the thing that would take her away from me.

“I knew that a plane was gonna take her away from me. I always knew it but I was so proud of her. I know she was living her dream.”

Filgueiras reportedly grew up in Palm Beach County, which is where the tragedy took place.

The teen was praised in local media as a pilot protégé after successfully obtaining her private pilot’s license at just 17 back in 2023.

“Some people think that it’s weird that I can fly planes, but I can’t drive a car,” Filgueiras told WPEC-TV in 2023. “I think it’s funny.”

The business jet crash sadly killed all nine people on board. The cause was not immediately clear, but federal investigators are expected to provide an update later today

Video recorded by passersby captured the terrifying moment on Sunday afternoon when the Bahamas-bound aircraft plunged from the sky before slamming into the ground and exploding in Greenacres, about 7 miles southwest of West Palm Beach.
