Security operatives have launched a rescue mission after gunmen abducted Lt. Cynthia Akor, a Nigerian Navy officer, and two others from their home in Mpape, Federal Capital Territory, on Friday night.
According to sources, the kidnappers have demanded a ransom of N100 million for their release.
A source familiar with the incident revealed, “About three people were kidnapped on Friday night in the Mpape area. A DHQ official, Akor, was among them. The kidnappers have already reached out to their families and are demanding N100m ransom.”
The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed that she was looking into the case but had yet to provide additional details. “I will confirm and get back to you shortly,” she stated.
Meanwhile, a security source shared that police officers and soldiers are actively working on the rescue operation.
“The operation to rescue her and others has started and is ongoing. Police and soldiers are already on it,” the source said.
Efforts to reach senior officials from the Defence Headquarters, including Maj. Gen. Markus Kangye and Brig. Gen. Tukur Gusau, were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
