Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has highlighted the progress of the state’s metro projects as a compelling reason for global investors to consider partnering with the government on the proposed Purple Rail Line project.
At the Africa Investment Forum Market Days in Morocco, Sanwo-Olu showcased the state’s achievements, including the operational Blue Line Rail and the recently launched Red Line metro. Both lines are undergoing expansion, with their second phases currently underway.
The state is now focusing on the development of two additional metro lines: the Green Line, which will run from Marina to the Lekki Free Zone, and the Purple Line.
The Purple Line, a 60 km electrified rail system, will feature 16 stations and span from Mowe to Ojo, passing through areas like Long Bridge, Ojodu, and Ogba.
Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the Purple Rail Line presents a promising investment opportunity with potential for substantial returns.
The project is expected to serve over 300,000 passengers daily, significantly reducing traffic congestion and greenhouse gas emissions by encouraging a shift from road to rail transportation.
Additionally, the line will integrate seamlessly with existing bus services, enhancing the overall connectivity of the city.
