President of Turkish club Galatasaray, Dursun Ozbek, has dismissed reports claiming the club owes Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen and other players outstanding salaries.
Ozbek described the reports as misleading and damaging, insisting the club has fulfilled all financial obligations to its players.
Speculation about unpaid wages emerged after claims that the Turkish league leaders were struggling to meet salary commitments, with Osimhen reportedly among the club’s highest earners.
However, the 76-year-old club president rejected the allegations.
Ozbek said: “If you make things up, you’ll create crises like this.
“Galatasaray is an elite team made up of world-class footballers.
“You can’t make these players play with just words.
“If players don’t receive their salaries for two or three months, they won’t play.
“These kinds of reports are an insult to the professionalism of our players.
“There are bonus and incentive clauses, and we pay them all on time.
“Galatasaray has not defaulted on a single lira — not a single lira overdue.”
Osimhen has been in strong form for Galatasaray this season, scoring 17 goals in 25 appearances, including seven goals in the Champions League.
His performances have helped the Turkish side reach the round of 16 of the Champions League for the first time in 12 years, where they will face Liverpool.
