The family of elder statesman and Afenifere chieftain, Pa Ayodele Adebanjo, who passed away on February 14, 2025, at the age of 96, has announced funeral arrangements to honor his legacy.
In a statement jointly signed by Mrs. Ayotunde Atteh, Mrs. Adeola Azeez, and Mr. Obafemi Ayo-Adebanjo, the family revealed that a Day of Tributes and Service of Songs would hold on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at 2pm at Eko Hotels & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, with guests encouraged to wear shades of green.
The Wake is scheduled for Friday, May 2, 2025, at 4pm at Pa Adebanjo’s country home in Isanya Ogbo, near Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, with Alari of Gold as the dress code.
The Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 10am at St. Phillips Anglican Church, Isanya Ogbo, with attendees asked to wear powder blue gele/cap on Ankara or royal blue lace. The Thanksgiving Service follows on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at the same venue.
Chairman of the burial planning committee, Mr. Biodun Shobanjo, speaking on behalf of the family, expressed appreciation for the support received, saying, “We are grateful for the prayers and kindness shown to us during this period.”
The family, inviting the public to join them, described Pa Adebanjo as “a man whose courage, integrity, and unwavering belief in justice left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s political history.”
