Reinstated Rivers State Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara has resumed office but did not mention Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), the state’s Sole Administrator, in his first address to the people.
Fubara, who was suspended along with his deputy Ngozi Odu and the state House of Assembly after President Bola Tinubu imposed emergency rule on March 18, 2025, expressed his gratitude to national leaders for resolving the political crisis.
In his broadcast, the governor thanked President Tinubu for his intervention and also acknowledged Senate President Godswill Akpabio, House Speaker Dr. Abbas Tajudeen, and members of the National Assembly. He singled out Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, calling him “Our Leader” for his role in restoring democratic governance in Rivers State.
“On behalf of the government and people of Rivers State, I extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mr. President for his decisive actions in resolving the political impasse,” Fubara said. “I reaffirm my loyalty and eternal gratitude to him.”
Meanwhile, the Rivers State House of Assembly has announced plans to investigate the activities of Vice Admiral Ibas during his time as Sole Administrator, signaling continued oversight of the emergency administration period.
