The Government of Ghana has declared Friday, March 20, 2026, and Monday, March 23, 2026, as public holidays to mark the Eid-Ul-Fitr celebration.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of the Interior (Ghana) on March 13, the ministry said the decision follows the observance of Eid‑ul‑Fitr and Shaqq Day, which fall on March 20 and March 21 this year.
Because March 21 falls on a Saturday, the government has designated Monday, March 23, as an additional public holiday to allow citizens across the country to properly observe the occasion.
The announcement was made by Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed‑Mubarak, who said the extra day off was declared through an Executive Instrument in line with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act, Act 601, as amended.
Authorities urged the public to observe the declared holidays nationwide.
