The temporary delay in allowing Oyo State Government officials to see victims rescued from the Oriire Local Government abduction was caused by routine military security procedures, according to a government source.

The source said the delay at the 2 Division Medical Centre, Military Hospital in Ibadan was part of the military’s standard screening and profiling process for everyone seeking access to the victims, stressing that it was not a refusal to admit the state delegation.

After the security process was completed, the state’s Commissioner for Health, Dr. Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, and former Chief Medical Director of the University College Hospital (UCH), Prof. Temitope Alonge, were allowed into the medical facility to examine the rescued victims and assess their condition.

The Oyo State delegation was led by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade. Other members included the Special Adviser on Security Coordination, Major General Tokunbo Omoniyi (retd), and the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Seyi Makinde, Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju.

According to the source, while the medical team eventually gained access to the victims, some members of the delegation remained outside the facility as security clearance continued and Governor Seyi Makinde’s arrival was awaited.

The clarification follows reports that access to the rescued victims had initially been restricted, with military authorities maintaining security protocols at the hospital.
