
The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, CON mni, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to deepening security cooperation with state governments during a high-level meeting with the Governor of Kebbi State, Dr Nasiru Idris.
Held on May 8, 2025, at Government House in Birnin Kebbi, the strategic meeting brought together key security stakeholders as part of the Minister’s operational visit to the state.
“This engagement underscores our resolve to work closely with state authorities to combat banditry, kidnapping, and other threats to peace,” the Minister stated. “We are ready to deploy resources and forge stronger partnerships for sustainable security outcomes.”
Governor Idris, in his response, commended the Defence Minister’s visit, describing it as “a clear signal of unity and urgency.”
“We are ready to collaborate fully with federal agencies and all stakeholders,” the governor said. “Kebbi State remains committed to peace, and we appreciate the sacrifices of our security operatives.”
Both leaders agreed that improved synergy and community involvement are essential in addressing the complex security challenges affecting the region.
The visit is part of broader federal efforts to boost frontline coordination and morale across Nigeria’s northern states.
