Reality TV star and actress, Bam Bam, has publicly shared a disturbing encounter with Nigerian police officers, accusing them of harassment and extortion.
The incident took place after she wrapped up a movie shoot and was stopped by officers for no apparent reason.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Bam Bam recounted the encounter, describing the police officer as “inappropriate and forceful.” She said she was ordered to step out of her car, where the officer allegedly demanded money.
Bam Bam questioned the officer’s behavior, asking, “What kind of nonsense is this? If we refused, what would they have done?”
The actress shared her discomfort with the situation, stressing that law enforcement should make citizens feel safe, not intimidated. She wrote, “We shouldn’t see the police and feel uncomfortable but safe.”
Bam Bam emphasized the importance of mutual respect, saying that tipping should be earned through good service, not demanded.
She continued, “He was a bit inappropriate and forceful. I came down, greeted him, and he asked if I was okay. I said I’m fine, just tired. He said, ‘Show me love now.’ He could have asked from the car window, but my assistant and I were down, we couldn’t drive off so I was forced to give something.”
Bam Bam’s post has sparked a conversation about police conduct and the need for reform to ensure citizens’ safety and dignity when interacting with law enforcement.
