The Court of Appeal in Abuja has set aside the ruling of the Osun State Election Petition Tribunal that annulled the election of Ademola Adeleke as the governor of the state.

The unanimous ruling of the three-member panel of the appeal court ruled that Adeleke won the 16 July 2022 governorship election.

Adeleke of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) polled 403,371 votes to defeat the then-incumbent governor, Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who got 375,027 votes.

But Oyetola rejected the result and headed for the tribunal which annulled Adeleke’s victory on 27 January and declared Oyetola the winner of the poll.
