The All Progressives Congress (APC) has recorded a clear victory in the local council elections held in Badagry Local Government and the two neighbouring LCDAs—Olorunda and Badagry-West—in Lagos State.
The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) announced the results late Saturday, confirming APC’s dominance across the three areas.
In Badagry LGA, APC candidate Babatunde Hunpe won by a landslide, securing 27,442 votes. His closest competitor from the PDP got 1,814 votes, while the ZLP candidate received 308.
Over in Olorunda LCDA, Peter Kumayon of the APC also emerged winner with 28,799 votes. ZLP followed with 562 votes, and PDP, though it did not present a candidate, still received 470 votes.
In Badagry-West LCDA, APC’s Rauf Ibrahim Yemaren came out on top with 11,538 votes, far ahead of the ZLP candidate, who polled 73.
The returning officers for each area—Akinwunmi Lewis, Adegboyega Oladiran, and Prof. Abiodun Okedeyi—formally declared the APC candidates elected, stating they had met all legal conditions.
After the announcements, the winners expressed their appreciation to voters and party leaders. Hunpe promised to build on the work of his predecessor, Kumayon pledged not to let his supporters down, and Yemaren committed to continuing the progress in Badagry-West.
