In a stirring call that blends passion, purpose, and patriotic duty, Olumuyiwa Akinboro, SAN — one of Nigeria’s most revered legal minds — has lent his voice to the rising tide of anticipation for the 2025 Nigerian Bar Association Annual General Conference (NBA-AGC), holding in Enugu.

With the theme “Stand Out. Stand Tall.”, this year’s conference promises more than the usual annual gathering — it is shaping up to be a defining moment for the Nigerian legal profession. And in true statesmanlike fashion, Akinboro SAN is calling the Bar to rise to the occasion.

“To stand out and stand tall — these are not mere words. They are the foundational virtues required to boldly chart the course for Nigeria’s nation-building,” he declared, striking a tone both visionary and urgent.

His message was not one of routine formality, but of moral leadership. He emphasized that in these times of national reckoning, lawyers must be more than skilled advocates — they must be courageous nation-builders, truth-tellers, and principled actors in every sphere of justice, governance, and public service.

“The courage to chart bold courses begins with the confidence to stand tall in one’s convictions,” Akinboro SAN noted. “Now, more than ever, the Nigerian Bar must lead — not from the sidelines, but from the frontlines of transformative change.”

Turning to the significance of the host city, he was unequivocal in his endorsement of Enugu as the ideal venue:

“The ancient Coal City is no doubt a most fitting place for this noble gathering — where history meets modernity, and where the spirit of the East will inspire the soul of the Bar. Enugu is ready. Expecting you there soon.”

In Akinboro’s powerful framing, Enugu becomes more than a location — it becomes a metaphor for renewal. A place where the past empowers the present, and where the legal profession can collectively interrogate its role, recommit to its values, and reignite its impact.

For every lawyer — from the bustling courts of Lagos to the corridors of justice in diaspora communities — this is more than a date on the calendar. It is a defining call to action.

Come. Stand Out. Stand Tall. The Bar is rising. Enugu awaits.

— Olumuyiwa Akinboro, SAN
