Governor Ademola Adeleke has secured a second term in office after being declared the winner of the 2026 Osun State governorship election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced Adeleke as the winner at the state collation centre in Osogbo on Sunday.

Adeleke, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), recorded 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challengers in the election.

The final collation of results began in the early hours of Sunday and continued until about 8am, when the Returning Officer, Joshua Ogunwole, formally announced the outcome.

The victory brings to an end weeks of political campaigns and competition ahead of the election, with Adeleke now set to continue as governor of the state for another term.

His supporters have since taken to the streets in several parts of Osun to celebrate the declaration, while political figures, including former presidential candidates Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, have congratulated the governor on his re-election.

The result also sparked celebrations from members of Adeleke’s family, including music star Davido, who publicly celebrated his uncle’s victory.
