Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has called on residents of the state to turn out for the August 15 governorship election and ensure that their votes are protected.

Adeleke made the appeal on Friday while campaigning for his re-election in Ipetu-Ijesha and Ijebu-Jesa, where he visited traditional rulers and addressed supporters.

The governor, who was accompanied by members of the Imole Campaign Council and his cousin, Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, said voters should not be intimidated from exercising their constitutional rights.

According to him, the people of Osun must demonstrate courage by voting and standing up for the outcome of the election.

“Your security is assured. Your safety is guaranteed. Mobilise your relatives and friends. Vote for good governance and more dividends of democracy,” Adeleke told supporters at the campaign rallies.

He further urged voters across the state, particularly in the Ijesa area, to remain resolute and ensure their ballots count.

At the palace of the Ajalaye of Ipetu-Ijesha, Oba Adeleke Oke, the traditional ruler commended the governor’s administration and expressed support for his bid to secure another term.

The monarch also held a victory prayer session involving interfaith activities in support of Adeleke’s re-election bid.

Oba Oke expressed confidence that Adeleke would emerge victorious and continue the work he started during his first term.

The governor’s visit to the traditional rulers formed part of efforts by his campaign team to strengthen support ahead of the August 15 poll.

Adeleke maintained that Osun residents have the right to participate freely in the election and should be prepared to defend the credibility of their votes.
