The Peoples Democratic Party says it has uploaded more than 70 per cent of its governorship and State House of Assembly candidates for the 2027 general elections, despite ongoing internal disputes within the party.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, disclosed this on Saturday, saying the nomination process was progressing smoothly after the Independent National Electoral Commission resolved minor technical issues that briefly affected the submission portal.

According to him, the party has uploaded more than 18 governorship candidates out of the expected 28 and deployed officials across the country to ensure the exercise is completed before the deadline.

Mohammed said the temporary technical glitches did not disrupt the party’s internal processes, adding that the leadership remained focused on complying with INEC’s timetable.

Meanwhile, the rival faction led by Tanimu Turaki (SAN) said it remained confident that the courts would determine the legitimacy of the ongoing nomination process.

The faction’s National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, said the judiciary had the capacity to correct alleged irregularities and restore fairness to the party’s internal affairs.

He expressed optimism that the legal process would eventually resolve the dispute and strengthen confidence in the party’s democratic processes.

INEC had earlier fixed June 27 to July 11, 2026, for political parties to submit the names of their presidential and National Assembly candidates. The commission also scheduled July 18 to August 8, 2026, for the submission of governorship and State House of Assembly candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
