Ariana Grande clinched Video of the Year at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night for her hit single “Brighter Days Ahead.” The pop star walked away with three trophies in total.

Lady Gaga emerged as the night’s biggest winner, claiming four awards, including Artist of the Year. Her win came just two days after canceling a Miami show due to an “extremely strained” voice. In her acceptance speech, Gaga said she had to leave early for her scheduled performance at Madison Square Garden. About 90 minutes later, the VMAs broadcasted her performing “Abracadabra” and “The Dead Dance” live from the venue.

Sabrina Carpenter also won three Moon Person trophies, including Album of the Year for Short n’ Sweet.

Other major winners included:

  • RoséSong of the Year for “APT.” (featuring Bruno Mars)

  • KATSEYEMTV Push Performance of the Year for “Touch”

  • Bruno Mars & Lady GagaBest Collaboration for “Die With a Smile”

Special honors went to Mariah Carey (Video Vanguard Award), Busta Rhymes (Rock the Bells Visionary Award), and Ricky Martin (Latin Icon Award), with each performing during the ceremony.

The 2025 VMAs also introduced two new categories: Best Pop Artist and Best Country Video.

Hosted by LL Cool J, the show aired live from UBS Arena in Elmont, New York, across CBS, MTV, and Paramount+.
