Yar’Adua Thanks Tinubu for Renaming Kaduna Petroleum Institute
Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua has expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for approving the renaming of the Institute of Petroleum Studies in Kaduna after the late General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua.
The institution will now be known as the General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua University of Geological Sciences and Engineering Technology.
In a statement issued on Friday, the senator described the decision as a recognition of the late general’s contributions to Nigeria’s development, democracy and nation-building efforts.
He said the renaming goes beyond a symbolic gesture, noting that it honours the legacy of a leader who dedicated his life to public service, national unity and institutional development.
According to him, the new name will serve as a lasting reminder to students and future generations of the values of sacrifice, leadership and patriotism championed by the late Yar’Adua.
The lawmaker said the institution would inspire young Nigerians pursuing careers in geology, engineering and technology to contribute meaningfully to national development.
Yar’Adua thanked President Tinubu and the Federal Government for what he described as a significant honour to the Yar’Adua family and the people of Katsina Central.
He also expressed hope that the university would produce highly skilled graduates capable of supporting Nigeria’s energy sector while promoting the democratic ideals for which the late General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua is remembered.
