Qatar has announced the partial reopening of its airspace, following days of closure caused by Iranian missile and drone attacks in response to US-Israel strikes. The Gulf state said that only select flights, including passenger evacuations and cargo operations, will be allowed through designated contingency routes.

Hamad International Airport, Qatar’s main airport, confirmed that limited flights would resume on Saturday, March 7, emphasizing that any further operations would depend on ongoing security assessments.

The move comes as tensions in the region escalate, with the conflict between Israel, the United States, and Iran entering its seventh day. Qatar’s defence ministry reported that ten Iranian drones targeted its territory, nine of which were intercepted, while one struck an uninhabited area without causing casualties. Earlier attacks on Hamad International Airport were also successfully thwarted.

The regional unrest has disrupted travel across the Gulf, surprising many who expected the area to remain a stable destination for tourism and business.

Authorities in Qatar stressed that the partial reopening is temporary, with safety measures continuing to guide flight operations amid the ongoing conflict.
