President Bola Tinubu is currently hosting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Modi arrived in Nigeria on Saturday evening and was warmly welcomed by President Tinubu at the State House Forecourt around 10:20 a.m. today.
The reception included a formal ceremony, with the Indian national anthem played in honor of Modi’s visit, followed by the Nigerian national anthem as the Brigade of Guards mounted a Guard of Honour.
A 21-gun salute also accompanied the inspection of the parade.
The two leaders are set to engage in a series of high-level talks, including a restricted meeting and delegation-level discussions.
Key aspects of their bilateral agenda will focus on strengthening Nigeria-India relations and expanding cooperation across various sectors.
Both leaders are expected to sign Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at deepening collaboration between the two countries.
This marks the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Nigeria since Dr. Manmohan Singh’s visit in 2007, during which the two nations formalized a strategic partnership
