Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Natacha Anita Akide, also known as Tacha, has shared the reasons behind her recent move to the United Kingdom.
In an interview with British media personality Madame Joyce, Tacha opened up about her decision to relocate, explaining that it was a natural progression after having “conquered” the Nigerian market.
Tacha explained, “I relocated to the UK because I have conquered the whole of the Nigerian market. Relocating to the UK doesn’t mean I’m not going to do Nigerian deals. If the offer is good, why not?”
While discussing her experience in Nigeria’s influencing scene, she pointed out the discrepancies between the outwardly glamorous world and the harsh financial realities.
“The influencing scene in Nigeria looks so beautiful, but behind the scenes, it’s not as beautiful as it seems because the money is poor,” she said. Tacha continued, sharing a specific example: “Someone would pay you N6 million, that’s around $3,000, for you to influence for six months and post two videos a month.”
Reflecting on the situation, she added, “The fee was the same when I left the Big Brother Naija show in 2019, but it made sense then. At least, you could book a plane ticket with it. But right now, $3,000 is nothing. N6 million seems good, but when you have to convert it to dollars, travel abroad, and spend money to look good, there’s nothing left.”
